Sodastream's Been Around Longer Than You Think
In the US, home seltzer makers, such as those offered by SodaStream and available on our site, are a pretty novel product. It's been a few years since their wide-scale introduction to the American public. And they are a hit - no doubt about it. The argument is too compelling - save money, no more lugging around heavy bottles of liquid and they are environment friendly.
Despite the sense of novelty Americans may feel, it may interest some of our readers to know that SodaStream has been around a lot longer than one may think. In fact, the origins of the system date back to 1903 (!) when the concept was actualized by Guy Gilbey. SodaStream made it popular some decades afterwards.
Remember the 70's, that fascinating era of funny clothes, funny hairdos and rocky rock-n-roll? Well, SodaStream was there . . . in the UK. In fact, many of our British friends remember well the commercials and the appliances they enjoyed so much using when they were kids. In fact, they may still now and a again find themselves tapping their feet to that energetic jingle, "Get busy with the fizzy!"
To educate our American friends and to allow for a moment of sweet nostalgia for our British friends, we thought we'd post a couple video advertisements. The first is from 1980 . . . boy is it from 1980! Watch, and you'll know what we mean.
The second is from 2010. It shows SodaStream's take on the emotional connection based in memory that Britons have with their product. Whether based in fact and reality or not, it sure is good entertainment! Enjoy.
